SyncToy 2.0

leave a comment »

SyncToy 2.0 is a free Microsoft utility that allows full two-way synchronisation of a folder hierarchy stored on any disk drives on the local machine, external USB keys, and drives accessible on a local area network. The user chooses a pair of source and destination folders. Any additions, changes, deletions in either the source or destination folders is reflected in the other. Some other variations on synchronisation in special situations are also supported.

Use this desktop utility to sync between folders on:

  • a disk drive and a USB key; if needed, the USB key can then be inserted into another machine and synced there
  • a desktop and laptop on the same local area network when appropriate file sharing is set up
